A LITTLE TEE SISTERS STORY

The Great Fish Massacre

Back in middle school, we really wanted a pet. But our mom was not on board. She said as soon as she’d get a dog she’d be waiting for it to die and would be sad.

(Spoiler alert: we now have three dogs)

So instead, we got the “easy” pet option: fish.

Off to PetSmart we went, full of excitement and zero fish knowledge. We picked out some glow fish (because they looked cool under the light) and one regular brown-and-black goldfish who kind of looked like the grumpy grandpa of the bunch.

We gave them names. We had a tank. Life was good.

Fena was put in charge of cleaning the tank-which, in theory, sounds simple enough. But middle school Fena’s reading comprehension and critical thinking? Let’s just say… still under construction.

So one day, while doing her fish-cleaning duties, she added the cleaning solution to the tank.

Except… she added way too much. Like, chlorine-fog-of-doom levels.

Cue the heartbreak: 5 out of our 6 fish died the next morning. Total chaos. Little fishy floaties. A mini tragedy.

But one fish—one brave little survivor—made it through. We named him Moby Dick.

Fena still gets a little sad thinking about those fish. But now she has plants. And hey, they’re way harder to kill…we hope.

HOT TOPIC

You’re Vintage

Did you know something only needs to be 20 years old to be considered vintage?

Yep, that means things like YouTube, the word glamping, Webkinz, and Dancing with the Stars are technically vintage now.

But here’s the fun part—something vintage we actually love is making a big comeback: vinyl records.

They can be a little pricey, but like typewriters, there’s a certain magic in physically holding your music. It's tactile. It's nostalgic. It's (as our gen Z says) aesthetic.

And it’s not just a hipster trend either. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, a whopping 43.6 million vinyl records were sold in the U.S. last year.

That’s in comparison to fewer than a million in 2006!

That’s music to artists’ ears, literally, since most of their income comes from merch and tours, not Spotify streams.

Funny how something our parents once used daily is now seen as quirky and retro.

At this rate, Gen Alpha might be calling microwaves or Netflix vintage.

A TEE SISTER LESSON

The Best Way to Sell

We’ve done our fair share of selling. And like most people, we’ve also had plenty of run-ins with salespeople.

(Cue the mental image of a car salesman in sunglasses and too much cologne.)

Let’s be honest: the reason people can’t stand salespeople is because they’re often pushy, annoying, and trying to sell you something you absolutely do not need.

The golden rule of sales? Don’t try to sell someone something that won’t actually benefit them.

Imagine you walk in looking for a practical van because you’ve got three kids in car seats, and the salesperson tries to put you in a Maserati.

(Okay, a bit extreme but you get the idea.)

That kind of upselling might boost commission in the moment, but it’s shady. And in our book? It’s unethical.

Here’s the real secret to selling: listen.

Sounds obvious, right? Try telling that to Maserati guy.

Too many salespeople are so laser-focused on closing the deal, they forget that their actions affect the future of those they’re selling to.

Here’s the deal: when you actually listen to your customer (understand their needs, their situation, and what will genuinely help them) you build trust.

That trust leads to repeat customers. And happy ones. And guess what? Those happy customers tell their friends. Boom. More sales.

Long story short: see people as people not just walking wallets.

Help first, sell second. The results will speak (and sell) for themselves.
