We Had To Run From 2 Men In Puerto Rico

We traveled to Puerto Rico on a sisters trip and went to a local coffee shop after landing where we met the owner and had a friendly chat. The next day, we went out to explore the nightlife—nothing too wild, just looking for a place to dance and enjoy a few drinks. In a weird coincidence, we ran into the coffee shop owner again. This time he was with a large older (40ish?) guy who didn’t speak English.

We tried to brush them off, but they insisted on continuing conversation. We moved on to another bar, where they insisted on getting us drinks, and we attempted to leave by saying we were hungry. That didn’t work, so we literally had to snuck of…anddddd make a run for it. We ran until we found a bar with bathrooms to hide in. (Only open stall was the men’s bathroom unfortunately). Thankfully, we made it back safely, but really taught us to not be two women traveling alone.

Oh, and by the way, the entire time we kept telling them we had boyfriends—showing them pictures and everything. Their response? “Have you heard of the 1,000-mile rule? If you sleep with someone that far from your boyfriend, it doesn’t count.” Real upstanding guys, right?

It’s true! Nobody fact-checks because, let’s be honest, all of us are a bit lazy—we’re definitely guilty. We find a fact we like and stick with it. We read on an energy drink can once that it speeds up metabolism and now we proudly sip caffeine convinced we’re shedding pounds. (Is it actually true? Who knows! Are we gonna check? Absolutely not!)

But you know what’s even crazier? We just completely made that up, and you were totally about to believe it!

Take this gem we spotted recently from Pubity, claiming: “The United States sold 1,000 gold cards last week at $5 million each!” The post racked up 343 THOUSAND likes. Curious, we dug deeper. Investigation by yours truly showed zero credible sources backing this up. In fact, the card might not even exist yet! Moral of the story? Social media is fantastic, but maybe toss a quick Google search in there every now and then.

So far, running ads taught us that our best friends are women aged 20-45, and influencer marketing is our golden ticket. But here’s the kicker: pricing matters—a lot.

We priced an item at $15.99, assuming printing costs were way lower (it was quoted as $12) Surprise, surprise, each order cost over $19 to fulfill, leaving us with a grand total of about -$3 per sale.

Ouch indeed. But hey, that's entrepreneurship—mistakes were made, lessons learned, and prices raised!
